Wilma Pauley, age 90, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Wilma was born May 13, 1927, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, the daughter of Glen and Mary (Zillhart) Edwards. She attended Lanark High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. On April 18, 1948, Wilma married Elmer Pauley. They celebrated 52 years of marriage until Elmer’s passing in 2000.
Wilma was a gourmet and restaurant cook in the Mt. Carroll area for 37 years until retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Mt. Carroll Church of God, and the Women’s Christian Service Club. Wilma loved serving her community by volunteering her time at the food pantry, and helping with mobile meals and food drives. In honor of veterans, she sold poppies every Memorial Day.
Wilma will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Dana (Ron) Rogers of Lanark, Illinois and Marna Pauley of Freeport, Illinois; a son, Allen (Linda) Pauley of Highland Village, Texas; three grandchildren, Erin (Chad) Lamm, Marques (Alyssa) Pauley and Kent Pauley; A great-granddaughter, Ellen Lamm; a great-granddaughter “on-the-way,” Aubriana Pauley; a brother Reverend Herbert Edwards of Warren, Indiana; and a sister Doris (Kenneth) Geisz of Lanark, Illinois. Wilma is preceded in death by her husband Elmer; both parents, Glen and Mary; her brother Laverne (Merna) Edwards; and sister-in-law, Ruth Edwards.
