Albert Tittsworth

Albert Tittsworth – February 12, 1927 – July 6, 2017 Albert Lee Tittsworth, age 90, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Mt. Carroll American Legion, Post #67.  A memorial fund has been established. Albert was born February 12, 1927, the son of Grant and Orinda (Hinch) Tittsworth in Barry, Illinois. Albert proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.  Albert married Irene Longenecker on September 22, 1947 and later married Irene “Rena” Oldfield on December 1, 1979. Albert worked for National Lock in Rockford, and Savanna, Illinois, and Mauldin South Carolina for 42 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the United Methodist church in Roscoe, Illinois, where he volunteered many hours, and enjoyed being a part of the men’s group. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, bird watching and spending time with loved ones. Barbara Hartman – January 19, 1935 – July 8, 2017 Barbara Bess Hartman, age 82, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll. Burial of her cremated remains will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Barbara’s memory. Barbara was born on January 19, 1935, at home in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Krafft) Taylor. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the class of 1952. On February 23, 1958, Barbara married Lyle Hartman at the Savanna Community Church. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper at many places in the Savanna area for 40 years, retiring from the Savanna City Hospital. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll; the Red Hat Society, and NARFE. She was an election judge for many years and in her spare time enjoyed knitting, crafts, needle point, playing cribbage, and in her younger years, bowling. Mildred Arlene Eslinger – March 20, 1924 – July 2, 2017 Mildred Arlene Eslinger, age 93, of Thomson, Illinois, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton, Iowa.  A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson.  A private graveside service will be held at Lower York Cemetery, Thomson.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice of Clinton, Iowa or the York Baptist Church, Thomson. Arlene was born on March 20, 1924, the daughter of Lloyd and Marian (Holland) Smith in Savanna, Illinois.  She attended Thomson High School and graduated with the Class of 1942.  Arlene married Calvin Eslinger on January 1, 1943 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.  Calvin died on April 4, 1997 in Thomson. Arlene worked for Agri-King Incorporated in Fulton, Illinois, until retiring in 1990.  After retirement, Arlene served as the York Township Clerk for twenty years.  She is currently serving as a trustee on the York Township Board.  Arlene was a longtime member of the York Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cards and golf.  Most of all, Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Tobias “Toby” Lowell Johnson – February 3, 1993 – July 1, 2017 Tobias “Toby” Lowell Johnson, age 24, of Thomson, Illinois, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in rural Thomson. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Toby’s memory. Toby was born February 3, 1993, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Mark and Lisa (Starr) Johnson. He attended Thomson Schools. He was employed by Ryan Eissens Construction, Thomson for several years. Toby enjoyed chasing Pokémon on Pokémon Go and playing XBOX One, especially first person shooters.  Toby loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle with his best friends, Mark Much, Steve Willis, Richard Houzenga, and Corey Robbins. Philip S. Konrad

Philip S. Konrad – January 27, 1933 – June 29, 2017 Philip S. Konrad, age 84 of Lake Carroll, IL, formerly of Prospect Heights, IL, died peacefully at home Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was born January 27, 1933 in St. Louis, MO; the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Konrad. He was a 1951 graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School and earned a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from IIT. Philip married Kathryn Welch on September 10, 1955. In 1979 he started his own successful business, PMA Friction Products, formerly PM Automotive, Inc. He was a member of St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church in Shannon, Il. Known as” Farmer Phil” by many, he raised chickens, turkeys, as well as his many adored Labrador Retrievers.  He was a master gardener and brought to life everything he planted and nurtured. Phil loved the lake and was also an avid fisherman.   He is survived by his wife, Kay of Lake Carroll;  9 children, John (Debbie); Joe (Paulette); Deb(Dennis) Neumann; Tom(Maria); Joan (Larry) Sweetman; Bob; Jim; Sue(Dennis) Heuer; and Paul (Jill); 23 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
