Elaine M. Cross — January 1, 1932 – April 8, 2018 Elaine M. Cross, 86, passed away on Sunday April 8, 2018 at FHN Hospital. She was born Mary Elaine Martz on January 1, 1932 to Charles E. Martz and Anna (Garman) Martz in Brookville, Illinois. She married Donald L. Cross on January 22, 1949. They had 5 children. Survivors include her children, Terry (Sharon) Cross, Teresia Cross, David (Ruth) Cross; her sisters, Alvera (Martz) Smith and Patricia (Martz) Diffenderfer; several grandchildren, Michael (Paula) Cross, Michelle Cross, J.D. Cross, Nicole Cross, Sabrina Cross, Gerald (Brandi) Cross, Joseph (Heidi) Cross, Chad Cross, Nathan Cross, Nicholas Cross, Brianna Cross, Cody Cross, Jered Cross, and Taylor Cross; numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant son Larry Cross, her son Steven Cross and his wife Teresa, her granddaughter Diana Lynn Cross, her brother Everette, and 2 brother-in-laws, Tom Diffenderfer and Faye (Bud) Smith. Florence R. Tripp — March 16, 1926 – April 12, 2018 Florence R. Tripp, age 92, of Chadwick, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Resthave Home, Morrison, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Chadwick First Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the church. Memorials may be made in Florence’s name to the Resthave Home, Morrison. Florence was born on March 16, 1926, at home in Fairhaven Township, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Flossie (Hiller) Adolph. She attended Chadwick High School and graduated with the Class of 1944. On February 7, 1946, Florence married Kenneth Tripp at the Chadwick First Lutheran Church. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Kenneth’s passing on March 18, 1999. Florence was a homemaker who cherished her family and helping her husband on the family farm. She was a longtime member of the Chadwick First Lutheran Church, the Chadwick Women’s Club, Chadwick Lamplighters Home Extension and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, playing cards, especially Bridge. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and golfing with her husband, Kenneth.
