Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Doyle, age 70, Elizabeth, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. A visitation will be held at the Conboy Funeral Home in Westchester, Illinois, Wednesday July 11th 2018 from 4pm – 9pm. Funeral service will be at Conboy at 10am Thursday July 12th, with burial at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois following at 1PM.  Friends are invited to share in Larry’s life at

Larry was born August 8, 1947 in Chicago, the son of Lawrence Emmet and Marvine (Ranberg) Doyle. He attended St. Celestine’s Grade School, where he met his friend and future love-of-his-life, Roberta. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Holy Cross High School in River Grove. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. On May 3, 1969, Larry married his long-time love, Roberta Albert.  They raised three children and celebrated forty-nine years of marriage.

Larry worked as a Court Clerk for Cook County in the 4th District for twenty-two years, retiring in 2009. After retirement, Larry and Roberta moved to Elizabeth, Illinois, where they loved the outdoors and going on drives in the country. Larry loved working with his hands, taking pictures and enjoying time with his family.  In his younger years, he learned to be a Tool & Die maker.  He liked fishing and tinkering with his Ham Radios. Larry’s call-sign was KA9PPP. Larry was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Hanover Chapter. Larry used to say, “I do nothing….and I’m good at it!”

Larry will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Roberta of Elizabeth; his three children, Larry G. Doyle, Roberta (Dr. Richard Schmitt) Doyle of Forest Park, and Dan (Maria) Doyle of Westchester. Larry was a proud grandpa of his six grandchildren: Lanae, Alyssa, Emily, Evan, D.J. and Gianna. Beloved brother of Kenneth (Christine) Doyle of Elmwood Park, John Doyle of Galena, Richard (Lisa) Doyle of Elizabeth, Mary Danz of Elgin and Kathleen (Niles) Westphal of Hazel Green, WI.  Larry is preceded in death by both parents.
