Kay L. Sweitzer — February 11, 1957 – December 19, 2018

Kay L. Sweitzer, 61, of Lanark, IL, passed away on December 19, 2018 at home. She was born on February 11, 1957 in Freeport, IL, to Hank and Alice (Moore) Sass. She married Richard A. Sweitzer on May 26, 1979 at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon, IL. She worked 34 years at Honeywell/Micro Switch in Freeport, and was involved in the Shannon Food Pantry, Pitter Patter Pantry, Eastland Council of Churches, and various church offices at Cherry Grove. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren in Lanark, IL.

She is survived by her Husband, Richard “Duck” Sweitzer; son, Timothy (Kara Jacobs) of Lanark, IL; daughter, Rebecca (Eric) Jobin of Savanna, IL; two sisters, Saranne (Greg) Stamm of Alfolkey, IL, and Donna (Carl) Ward of Loran, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Alice; two brothers, Richard and Denny; one sister, Gloria; and a son, Mark Allen.

Funeral service was held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 10 AM, at the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren in Lanark, IL, with Pastor Rodney Caldwell of the Cherry Grove Church, and former Pastor John Ewing officiating. A visitation was held on Thursday December 27, 2018 from 4-7 PM, at the Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark, IL. Burial was at Cherry Grove Brethren Cemetery in Lanark.
