Kaleb LaRue, a student in Mrs. Blair’s 5th grade class at Eastland Elementary School, was chosen as the 5th grade winner of an essay contest held by the Daughters of the American Revolution Carroll/Jo Daviess Chapter. The topic of the essay was about the pros and cons of women’s suffrage and the impact it was having on society back in the 1900s. Kaleb will be recognized at a luncheon in February and his essay will go to the state level for judging. From there, he could possibly even move on to the division and then national contest.
