Remember to turn on headlights in fog
What a fog we had earlier last week! I came over to the gym at 5:30 a.m. and it was much safer to be on the road as I could at least see headlights shining off of it. But….when I came back to the office around 7:15 a.m., I nearly ended up in someone’s back seat. I was driving to the office, could not see a quarter of a mile ahead of me. I had no idea how far ahead of me were any cars. I abruptly came up on a car that had been stopped for the car in front of them turning. Guess what? The car ahead of me had no tail lights on. Luckily I stopped in time and all that happened was my daily bags of gear I bring to the office flew around but it could have been ugly. Do not rely on automatic headlights! Turn your lights on physically. It is the best way to make sure they are no. The sun while not being able to be seen, was sure bouncing off the fog making it hard to see anything especially tail lights that were not on.
August 2020 trip to Alaska
Soon we will have brochures available for the August 2020 trip to Alaska. The trip will go to places we haven’t gone before. The trip will start with 10 days of land followed by an optional cruise. The trip will start with flying into Anchorage and include a rail car trip up to Denali National Park. A more in depth trip to the park will also include the Tundra Wilderness Tour. After leaving Denali Park, we will head to Wasilla and visit the Iditarod Headquarters and experience a dog cart ride. One day will be spent attending the Alaska State Fair and visiting an Musk Ox Farm. From there the trip will move on to Homer for two nights. A visit will be made to Kenai Cultural Center, a Dock Walk tour where Deadliest Catch Reality Series tapes, and a visit to a peony farm. Day 8 will move on to Seward and a visit to the Kenai Penisula Visitors Center and the port. Day 9 will be a visit to Kenai Fjords National Park.
At that time if you want to take part in the cruise portion you will board the ms Noordham for a 7 day cruise which will include stops in Haines, Juneau, and Ketchikan as you cruise through the Glacier Bay and up to Vancouver. For those not cruising you will spend your last night in Anchorage before flying back home. As I mentioned we will be having printed flyers in the office soon. Once we do have all the info we will also have an informational meeting for those interested in more information.
