We are again running a Schwan’s fundraiser.  This has to be the easiest fundraiser to do! One, it costs you the consumer not a penny more! Two, I just need to make you aware of it! Three, the check comes in.  How simple is that.  You as the consumer do need to either call your order in a head of time 1-855-870-7208 or you need to preorder online.  Either way you do it, you will need to give the campaign code 42419.  Here is the direct link to order:  Each time you order, Schwan’s donates 20% of your order to the backpack program! Score for each of us.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Harvest Season Permit….oh the questions.  Last week at the Carroll County Board meeting, it was decided the county will issue permits at the fee of $75 per truck for the permit season which will end 12/31/18. So for anyone wishing to get a permit for this fall, get in touch with the County Highway Department. They will be handling the permit for all townships as well.

I owe a big shout out THANK YOU to Barb Hartman and the Carroll County Locker in Lanark.  They allowed us to use their freezers for storage of the freezer meals for the Ag in the Classroom fundraiser.  Their generosity in allowing us to do that was very much appreciated.

Thank you for supporting our sponsors! They help us bring you the news.

I am sure we are all asking the same question….is the election over yet? Everywhere you turn around there is an ad. Even my Pandora station is full of them.  As you can see it is an important one with many contested seats.  Early voting is now available at the Carroll County Clerk’s office. The site will be open Monday through Friday, starting on Thursday, September 27, 2018 thru Monday, November 5, 2018 with the hours of 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Also, the office will be open on the following Saturdays, October 27, 2018 and November 3, 2018 from 9 a.m. till 12 noon for this purpose. Now if with all today’s technology and big brother, if the ads could stop for each of us as soon as we vote…hm.

October has historically been National Pork Month. Speaking of Pork….the National Pork Board just announced they are looking for six interns for next summer. Application deadline is October 15. The internships vary in marketing, communications, public health, even international.  The National Pork Board interns will be stationed in Des Moines, IA. Also the Illinois Pork Producers Association will be looking for one intern in Springfield, IL.

Soon our holiday nuts and candy sale order forms will be coming out and hitting mailboxes of those who have ordered before.  We don’t want to solicit everyone but if you would like to buy or check out the order form, it will be available on our website, and at our office.
