Dave E. Hoge

Dave E. Hoge — July 13, 1943 – May 15, 2018 Dave E. Hoge, age 74, of Thomson, Illinois, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Rock River Hospice House in Sterling, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Dave was born on July 13, 1943, the son of Elmer and Edna Hoge in Walnut, Illinois. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corp for thirty years. While enlisted, Dave served in the Vietnam War and was held captive as a Prisoner of War for thirty days. Dave married Nina Audrey Albright and later married Carol Ann Isenhart. Carol Ann died on August 14, 2015. Dave was an amazing man and was always willing to help others. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. Dave also enjoyed watching westerns and listening to Johnny and June Cash. Most of all, Dave cherished spending time with his family and close friends. Dave will be dearly missed by two daughters, Angelina (Douglas) Matthews, and Patsy (James) Searcy; one granddaughter, Amber Matthews; five great grandchildren, Connor and Natalya Searcy and Reilly, Eliette, and Adelaide Matthews; and two brothers, Don and Danny Hoge. William “Bill” L. Boland Sr.

William “Bill” L. Boland Sr. — October 8, 1929 – May 16, 2018 William “Bill” L. Boland Sr., 88, formerly of Forreston, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Gresham, Oregon. Bill was born October 8, 1929 in Freeport, the son of Joseph and Fern (Cheeseman) Boland. Bill married Sue Cox in November 1953. Then he married Violet Toelke on July 14, 1972. Violet died November 8, 2001. He then marred Lois Swalve on September 3, 2004 at United Methodist Church, Forreston. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at KellySpringfield for many years. He was a member of Forreston United Methodist Church, Forreston American Legion, and Mt. Morris Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting during his free time. Surviving are his wife, Lois Boland of Gresham, Oregon; four sons, William (Marjorie) Boland Jr. of Freeport, Raymond (Leticia) Boland of Pearl City, and Charles (Brenda) Boland of Freeport and Matt (Margaret) Boland of Maryland; five brothers, Barney Boland of Dubuque, Michael Boland of St. Louis, Kenny Boland of Freeport, Tony Boland of Dubuque, and Jack Boland of Dubuque. Also surviving are several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Violet; six brothers, Leo, Joe, Brian, Robert, Danny, and Charles; and three sisters, Ann, Mary, and Pat.
