Alan Lee Heisler — August 10, 1921 – April 24, 2018 Alan Lee Heisler, age 96, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018, after a two-week stay at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll. A funeral  will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Burial will take place in Center Hill Cemetery, rural Mt. Carroll. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Memorials may be given in Alan’s memory. Friends and family are invited to share in Alan’s life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com. Alan was born August 10, 1921 in Lanark, Illinois, the son of Oliver and Ruth (Bloyer) Heisler. He was raised on the family farm near Mt. Carroll and attended the Kingery Country School. Alan then graduated from the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1939. On June 10, 1945, Alan married the love of his life Hazel I. Smith. They raised three children and celebrated 58 years of marriage. Hazel passed away September 23, 2003. Alan farmed for several years. He then joined his father in business operating Heisler Sand and Gravel Company near Mt. GERALD W. KAUFMAN — March 30, 1960 – April 20, 2018 GERALD W. KAUFMAN, 58, of Milledgeville, IL, died Friday, April 20, 2018, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. The funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Kaufman, pastor of Gospel Assembly in Moline, IL, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL. A memorial has been established by the family. Gerry was born March 30, 1960, in Sterling, IL, to Clyde W. and Louise J. (VanDyke) Kaufman. He was educated in the Chadwick, IL grade schools and was a graduate of Chadwick High School. Gerry first married Charlene Decker. He later married Karen R. Kirk on September 10, 2011, in Milledgeville. Gerry was first employed as a security guard at the Cordova Nuclear Power Generation Plant and later was employed at Elkay Manufacturing in Savanna, IL. Gerry was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed wood turning and the art of whip cracking. Ryan W. Benson — January 4, 1960 – April 21, 2018  Ryan W. Benson, 58, of Polo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Princeton. Ryan was born Jan. 4, 1960, in Moline to Ronald W. and Ruth (Johnson) Benson. He graduated from Polo Community High School and also from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago. He worked alongside his father at the family business, Benson Funeral Home in Polo, until his father’s retirement. Ryan then successfully owned and operated the Benson Funeral Home for many years. Most recently, Ryan was employed at Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, where he worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was very dedicated, detailed and passionate about his work and was proud to serve all of the families he had the opportunity to work with. Ryan is survived by one sister, Rhonda (Glen “Butch”) Cook of Orion; one niece, Dawn (Justin) Byars of Oak Point, Texas; one nephew, Kevin (Kelli) Cook of Orion; and many dear friends.
